SOLAR WATER HEATERS - GENERAL
Solar water heaters use solar energy as a heating medium to produce domestic hot water. This is an alternative option for hot water production that is completely environmentally friendly and is considered ideal for areas with high sunshine, such as Greece.
The solar water heaters we offer are manufactured in compliance with international standards and hold all the certifications and test reports that confirm their quality. The water storage tank (boiler) features an internal enamel (glass) coating that covers the inside of the vessel at every point, protecting it against rust and thus ensuring clean drinking water at all times. Their collector is selective, the type most commonly used in recent years for solar water heaters, as it has lower heat losses compared to a standard collector and, consequently, higher efficiency.
SYSTEM FEATURES
Both the boiler and the collectors of the installation are manufactured according to the following characteristics that meet the high demands of the business:
- Solar water heater with solar boiler:
External stainless steel cladding for unlimited durability in difficult weather conditions.
Heavy-duty eco-friendly polyurethane insulation up to 60mm thick and with a density of 40.5 kg/m3 for complete thermal insulation.
Water tank (boiler) made of special 1204 V. E. steel, 3mm thick, specially designed for enamelling.
Leak test at test pressures up to 15 ATM.
The boiler is internally protected by double successive layers of hard glass (DURO-GLASS) according to DIN4753/3-5-8, fired at 830°C.
Horizontal welding of the tank internally and externally (unique innovation).
- Solar collector:
Certified energy efficiency - The collectors feature higher levels of energy efficiency and comply with the EN 12975 standard. All of them have been rigorously tested in certified research centers. The new products have been awarded the Solar Key Mark and the P-ICIM quality certificate.
Greater durability and safety - The collector glass, 4mm thick with special reinforcement, high transparency, and resistance to sudden temperature changes, reflects minimal incident solar radiation, thus losing minimal energy. The captured solar energy is retained thanks to the prismatic surface, creating a "greenhouse effect" inside the collector.
Additionally, the collector, for full absorption of solar radiation, features a heat-absorbing surface made of specially formed aluminum fins with a semi-selective chromatic treatment, and for full sealing and sturdiness, a specially formed aluminum profile frame and an additional special rubber profile above the glass. It also features insulation made of pre-compressed hard fiberglass up to 45mm thick.
These user-friendly systems are manufactured by combining the most economical and efficient operation of a solar system with aesthetics. Thus, the collectors can be installed on your home's roof while the boiler is placed in the boiler room.
SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
As in heating systems, heat is transferred through a heat transfer fluid that runs between the solar collector and the cylinder. The fluid (a mixture of water and glycol) can flow spontaneously or be driven by a circulator. Based on this we can distinguish between two types of solar systems:

Architectural integration in combination with the boiler
Furthermore, the water heater can operate even when there is no sun, heating utility water via an alternative source, thus saving energy. Based on this, we can distinguish two types of solar systems:
- Dual energy:
They are the systems that have the ability to work in two ways: by solar or by electricity. This means that inside the water tank there is an electric element, so on days when there is little sunshine due to cloudy weather you can turn on your solar water heater with electricity, and always have hot water.
- Triple energy:
They are the systems that can work in three ways: with solar energy, with electricity or with hot water from the central heating of the house. This means that inside the water tank there is an electric element, as well as a coil in which the hot water of the radiators produced by the central heating boiler/pump circulates. So on cloudy days, you will be able to start your solar panel either with electricity or from the boiler, so that you always have hot water.
This operation is controlled by a differential thermostat. Taking into account the climatic peculiarities of each region, solar differential thermostats are an ideal solution for maximum efficiency and fuel economy. They are doubly protected against lightning and electrostatic discharges. They can execute an antifreeze program to protect the collectors. They are fully digital and parameterizable with a built-in fault diagnosis mechanism. Equipped with a backlit display, they show the current temperatures of the sensors and all kinds of warning messages. They are simply installed and adjusted to control the collectors' circulator or the boiler burner.
SOLAR HEATING SYSTEMS WITH A BOILER
In new or existing boiler-based heating systems (gas or oil), we can install a solar water heater system to provide free domestic hot water year-round. In this case, to combine the two different sources of domestic hot water —DHW—without requiring manual switching between the systems (solar water heater & boiler), we install the Solar Kit for automatic hot water control, so we don’t have to open and close the solar system’s valves every time the sun is out.
- Why are we installing it?
It optimizes DHW production in water heaters, electric boilers, or furnaces that are connected in parallel with solar water heaters or central solar systems.
This allows for temperature control of the DHW supplied by two different sources (e.g., a solar water heater and a gas boiler).
It allows you to set the desired water temperature all year round. It automatically controls the temperature of the water coming from the solar system and, depending on the desired temperature we have set, it sends it either directly for use or to the gas boiler (or another DHW production device) to provide additional heating.
It does not require a power supply and does not consume electricity.
It protects against unexpectedly high water temperatures that could cause burns.
It minimizes mineral buildup in the pipes.
It replaces the manual water control via valves found in older systems.
- The result:
Automated supply of domestic hot water (DHW) for consumption, at a constant temperature (35°C–60°C), regardless of the temperature of the water in the solar water heater.
Now, we no longer need to manually adjust the DHW supply valves!
The entire system operates automatically, year-round, achieving maximum savings!

SOLAR WATER HEATERS WITH FLOOR HEATING
The combination of solar systems and underfloor heating contributes to saving energy from conventional fuels, such as oil or natural gas, which can reach very high percentages, significantly reducing the cost of heating our home. The solar heating tank is placed between the boiler and the underfloor heating system. Inside it, there is a heat exchanger connected to the solar collectors, heating the underfloor heating water during sunny winter days; once the water reaches the desired temperature, it is automatically routed to the underfloor heating upon a command received from the electronic differential thermostat.
