"We are in the period of solar energy. The conversion of sunlight into electricity from photovoltaic cells is the ideal source of "clean" energy for homes, workplaces and public facilities. To understand the magnitude of this way of harvesting energy consider that if we cover 1% of the surface of the Sahara desert with a photovoltaic system, we will be able to cover the electricity consumption of the whole planet. This way we avoid the use of oil, gas and pellets whose prices are constantly rising. ”
PHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEMS - GENERAL
Photovoltaic panels convert sunlight into electricity. They are often called solar cells and are already an important part of our lives. The simplest applications of this technology are found in pocket computers and wristwatches. More complex systems help us pump water, provide electricity to remote communication stations, as well as light our homes, operate our household appliances and charge our cars. Especially in our country, which is one of the most endowed regions in solar energy, installations using Renewable Energy Sources quickly pay back the value of the investment.
With the price of electricity being at unprecedented high levels, we recommend the installation of a photovoltaic system as a profitable, safe and tax-free investment, with fast payback, yield up to 25% and profit for the next 20 years! This period of time, favours the installation of photovoltaic systems, due to the very low prices of materials and because the current legislation encourages us, significantly reducing the cost of installation, in order to turn to renewable energy sources, which are inexhaustible, environmentally friendly and at the same time do not lag behind non-renewable sources (oil, lignite, etc.) in terms of energy effect.

WHY WE NEED TO INSTALL PHOTOVOLTAICS
A photovoltaic system costs about 1,000 € / 1 kWp, is placed on a roof, roof terrace, field or other space, domestic and / or professional and offers us a profit by offsetting its performance with the electricity consumption of our space. See below some indicative examples of cost, efficiency and payback time for different applications of photovoltaic systems:
Photovoltaic System 5 kWp in an average house with an annual electricity consumption of about 4.500 kWh
Energy output per year up to 7.500 kWh
Cost about 5.000€
Required installation space: 25-30 sq.m. on tiles /30-45 sq.m. on terrace-ground
Cost amortization in 3-4 years
By offsetting the power output of the photovoltaics with the consumption of the house, the annual electricity cost will be zero!
Photovoltaic System 10 kWp in a house or commercial space with higher annual power consumption
Efficiency per year up to 16.000 kWh
Cost about 10.000€
Required installation space: 50-60 sq.m. on tiles /60-80 sq.m. on terrace-ground
Cost amortization in 3-4 years
By offsetting the power output of the photovoltaics with the consumption of the building, the annual electricity costs are significantly reduced (up to 3,500 € per year!!!!)
Photovoltaic System 5 kWp in a building with a 12 kW heat pump
Photovoltaic performance per year up to 7.500 kWh
Pump consumption per year about 6.000 kWh
By offsetting the power output of the photovoltaics with the energy consumption of the pump, the annual heating costs are eliminated!

PHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEMS - APPLICATIONS
The applications of photovoltaics can be divided into the following categories:
Photovoltaic system connected to the grid - NET METERING
Net Metering is the offsetting made by HEDNO between the generated energy of the photovoltaic system and the consumed energy from the owner's consumptions, significantly reducing or even zeroing the cost of electricity for the needs of the property.
In addition to Net Metering, in recent years there is also the concept of hidden Net Metering, in which the photovoltaic system is placed in a remote area (e.g. field) but is offset with a power supply in a different location (e.g. home, business space, etc.), regardless of the distance between them!
The installation point (roof, terrace, field) must have sufficient area (e.g. for 5kwp about 25-30 sq.m. tiles / 30-45 sq.m. roof-ground), so that, after a study, the appropriate number of panels can be installed for the greatest possible energy production and thus a corresponding reduction in electricity costs.
The necessary materials we use for the self-production – self-consumption system are the following:
Photovoltaic panels - Collector mounting system
Inverters (INVERTER)
Electrical panel
Autonomous photovoltaic power supply system with battery storage
The stand-alone system is usually chosen for remote buildings that are not able to connect to the grid of the PPP. This system produces electricity that can be consumed directly to meet the immediate needs of the owner or stored in batteries to be used during the night or cloudy weather. The autonomy it provides depends on the number of photovoltaic panels and the capacity of the batteries and with proper design it is possible to supply the needs of a small space e.g. a cottage, caravan etc. for a predetermined period of time.
The necessary materials we use for the battery-powered autonomous system are the following:
Photovoltaic panels - Collector mounting system
Batteries
Inverters (INVERTER)
Charging regulator
Combination of NET METERING & batteries - Hybrid system - BACK UP
With the combination of the two systems, we can cover the needs of a building in electricity, reducing or even completely eliminating its cost, and at the same time store energy e.g. for use in case of a power failure or to cover the needs of selected appliances free of charge. By using a hybrid system, we also achieve a significant reduction in the cost of regulated electricity bill charges, as the energy injected into the grid is reduced.
